Here's a few quotable quotes from Rous Unplugged attendees!
"Hi,
I had 8 friends come to the hall on Friday night and they could not believe the great entertainment and community spirit. They told me that this was very rare. I noticed that they quickly grabbed the yearly program and will coincide their visits with these Friday nights. Great to see seasoned performers and it offers a wonderful nursery for young and old amateur performers to entertain such an appreciative and friendly audience. Well done!" B.T.
"Rous Unplugged is one of the greatest community events ever. The amazing entertainment and generous audience combined with candlelight lighting after the sun has set creates an outstanding sense of rich mood and friendly atmosphere. Also all of the proceeds go toward an excellent cause which makes the people who contribute feel even better for doing so." L. C.
"How wonderful to have a completely unplugged music night! Intimate and heartwarming. Rare privelage to hear a full size harp played exquisitely by Margaret Curtis. But wait! There was more! There were two harpists last night - the second accompanying a wonderful flautist. People of all ages sharing their music - very special night! This kind of event is the glue that binds happy communities. Thank you." O. H.
"It was so wonderful performing with the choir I'm in - Twisted Fate, we were so appreciated, and I have also been in the audience a few times and have been blown away by the performers every time. Keep up the good work! Thanxs Simon, Mim and the tea, coffee, cake makers, it wouldn't be the same without your participation - you all make the night what it is, all the best for this year and for years to come. Thanxs." R. M.
"I have been to all the Rous Mill Unplugged nights bar the first - I guess one might call me a Rous Mill Unplugged Groupie. I feel so blessed to belong to a community that can provide such an event on a monthly basis. To be in the audience is such a treat, being transported by experienced through to novice performers with their with their talents. And they do this with such trust and generosity. One day I hope to find time to work on something to perform myself. I am inspired by those who are brave enough.
Thanks for the opportunity." D x
"A huge 'thank you' to all involved in the Rous Unplugged event on Friday night. WOW! You were all amazing ... we absolutely loved it!" S.M.
"The bonhomie and fellow-feeling in the atmosphere of every event is enchanting. From seasoned old souls playing songs of spirit, to my four year old daughter performing ballet, there is encouragement and love for all. It combines the very best of the musical festival and community event; a tradition destined to become part of the local folklore." M. B.
"A wonderful night full of unbridled talent, an appreciative audience and a wide range of age's and genres to make it an event not to be missed! The 2 students I presented were enthralled by both the variety and high levels of musicality. I enjoyed performing myself very much and many thanks to Simon, Mim and the people involved with catering and refreshments." S. J.
"Thanks for a wonderful night, what a great community event, thanks for inviting me, we'll be back x" P.F.
"What an amazing community event that just keeps on bringing great things to everyone who comes along... audience and performers alike. It is so rare to have a space where people actually listen respectfully to performers ... You can hear a pin drop as people put themselves out there for others to appreciate- totally rare! And the level of talent is amazing! So good to have this each month :)" M. O.
"We have been to a few Rous Unplugged evenings - what a lovely, warm atmosphere! As newcomers to the area, we feel welcomed and part of the community. And the amount of talent in the area is as astounding as it is varied! We have now organised ourselves to attend as often as possible. Well done Simon and everyone who does so much work to make these most enjoyable evenings." :) J. K.
"I have enjoyed all the Friday nights I have been to at Rous Mill, both as a choir member and part of audience. I can't believe how much talent there is in this area! It is also a wonderful way to spend an evening together, with the sunset and being out in country, among the cows and the trees. A perfect location for these evenings . Well Done Simon and Mim." K.S.
"Friday night was amazing, the talent, atmosphere, acoustic were to be matched with any city....bring on the next Friday unplugged we will be there. Till then xx" L.H.
"I did the most coolest and amazing gig with the very talented Geraldine Loong a few weeks ago at the Rous Mill Hall!!! ... It was totally unplugged and unamplified, 100 or so people from kids to grandparents sat intently silent & engaged for the purpose of listening to the music of WOW WOW WOW unbelievably good performers young and old, all sorts of styles and genres. We are talking about a small country hall here on the Northern Rivers where people gather to share the joy and love of music. ... You could have heard a pin drop in this room. It was amazing to see and hear so many great performers sharing with so many loving family, connected community listeners, this was all about the performing, the performers and the interactive audience ... I offer a huge congratulations to Simon Chate for creating this ... it is the new culture of sharing talent & music! I They have another event organised for the 29 November and I wish Simon Chate & his crew all the very best. Thank you for the opportunity to play at such a cool gig! &&& Karen Hanna rocked with groovy original material .... this is what music is about!" H.B.
"Once again thanks for all the wonderful work you do putting the Rous Unplugged nights on. They are most enjoyable . wonderful way of meeting people in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere . cheers !" K.S.
" I loved it. It really manifests the idea of music coming from within the community, being shared by the community. It provides that lovely feeling that there is no great division between performers and audience, the performers seemingly drawn from the audience. This is of course how music used to be in small communities." J.W.
"BEST NIGHT EVER ! Well done Mim and Simon." K.S.
